The book was based on a year stint, in which Sixx was living the rock star lifestyle and abusing heroin. Sixx recaps his struggle, which almost took his life. When asked in an interview about his motives for writing The Heroin Diaries, Sixx noted: “It was a long process because the original feeling was to publish those diaries based on my belief that I could raise awareness of this global epidemic and what it’s like…It’s an epidemic and a problem. I wanted to share my experience…share a little hope, a little faith that people can get out of it. That’s where it started.”

Shortly after releasing the book, Sixx formed the group Sixx: A.M. along with fellow members, DJ Ashba and James Michael, with the hope of being able to convey his literary message into a musical soundtrack. The result was The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack. Two of the tracks in particular that have received acclaim are, Life Is Beautiful and Tomorrow. The federal campaign “National Recovery Month” picked up Tomorrow as the 2007 theme song. Sixx is a strong advocate for National Recovery Month and addiction recovery in general. He serves as an inspiration to all recovering artists that rehabilitation is possible and that expression can aid in the process.

Nikki Sixx Discusses National Addiction Recovery Month

Recovery Arts Blog » The Heroin Diaries

Sixx: A.M. the Heroin Diaries Soundtrack, Life is Beautiful, Tomorrow

Music

Recovery Music

DJ Ashba

James Michael

Life Is Beautiful

National Recovery Month

Nikki Sixx

Sixx: A.M.

The Heroin Diaries

The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack

Tomorrow

In 2007, Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx, wrote a book called “The Heroine Diaries” and formed a band known as Sixx A.M. to help him record an album that was to go hand-in- hand with the book, also called The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack.
